Head up to the NICU weather isn’t very bad yet, today was supposed to be the worst part. Yesterday was worse. Forecast says worst part is between 1600 and 2100.

Stormy weather throughout the night I can hear the wind whistling outside.
On the way up to the NICU its raining.
Real rain, coming down sideways, not the weak drizzle the wheezing asthmatic Seattle usually spits.
I’m glad we have rain jackets!
RT is on 26% oxygen. Nurse today is one of his primaries! He had a fairly decent night!

Enter NICU, weight on the board is 2300.
Nurse today is one RT has had a few times, she tells us he had a rougher night. More Brady desat events with apnea….
I thought we were through this, he didn’t heve brady desats for like two days now. Just desat events….
What is causing the bradycardia? Is it his Theofalin level, electrolytes, the change to his levabuterol dosage? Who know. No one, or hopefully we wouldn’t have this issue.
Weight on the board is 5 lb and .1 of an oz! He just barely broke through the 5lb barrier, and its mostly good weight, not excessive swelling!
He looks like a small baby.
New nurse tofay that he has not had yet.
Nurse today has a good analogy for people that don’t quite get it.
No call last night that they had to switch him back off of CPAP so that is awesome!
His oxygen is 28%.
Weight on the board is 2250. His EDI catheter is gone, because it’s no longer needed since we are on CPAP! Just his OG ( feeding tube) is down his throat now!

0630 wake up. Wife pumps and we head up( I obviously don’t mention every time she pumps. 8ish times a day )
Weight on the board is 2185.
He is on 26% oxygen.
The nurse is the same one from yesterday! I’m glad we are getting her frequently rather than rotating through different nurses!
She tells us he had a pretty good night, less frequent events! The nurse last night was able to wean him to 21% for a portion of the night. Wow! Stayed below 30 other than to recover from events!
His respiration rate is higher than his normal. Heart rate seems a little higher too. I wonder if he is slightly too warm. Continue reading “October 9th 2016”
Weight on the board 2165 that is 4lb 12oz. Mostly healthy weight.
Nurse today is a nurse we have had quite a few times lately, she might as well be one of his primaries.
On 27% oxygen.
Nurse says his night was better than the previous one. Only about one event every hour, rather than every 25 minutes. So that’s good. Less bradycardia events.
We hang out.
1100 cares Big event as mom takes his temp. Takes some work to get him back up. He really hates having his temperature taken. Just pee in his diaper. Continue reading “October 8th 2016”
Larger events where his spo2 gets into the 30’s one down to 5 spo2 last night not really sure what causes it or if it’s him just locking up after his cough. 25 large events from midnight to 1000.
