No call last night that they had to switch him back off of CPAP so that is awesome!

His oxygen is 28%.

Weight on the board is 2250. His EDI catheter is gone,  because it’s no longer needed since we are on CPAP! Just his OG ( feeding tube) is down his throat now!

Nurse today is another primary!

Hang out till the next cares. He has nearly pulled his blanket over his head like he is trying to block out the sound and light from what is going on around him.

Cares. I take his temp 37.0 mom does his diaper just pee. He does good with cares,  it is time to swaddle him back up.  I pick him up one hand supporting his head neck and upper back,  the other under his diaper.  Reposition him and tilt his head back slightly for mom to check his neck folds for yeast.

He wiggles and arches his back then relaxes, he likes being held,   His butt burbles, well it’s time for another diaper change.  Goofy kid.
Mom changes his diaper again.  Large poop. Good boy,  I think this is 3 days in a row around the same time.

Swaddled up.  Binky time,  he really is getting good at suckling his binky and holding it in his mouth without letting it fall for longer.

Weaned down to 26%!

Hang out then head to lunch.

Back to NICU,

25% oxygen

1400 cares. Temp is 36.6, just pee.  Moms turn for skin to skin today!

He searches for food for a bit but settles down eventally. They have a good skin to skin time! Down to 21% for part of it,  23 for most of the rest!

I hang out then head back to the hotel to do some laundry.

Dinner time.

Back to NICU.

Shift change, same nurse as the last two nights!

He is on 25% oxygen.

2000 Cares, bumped up for cares to 38% because he starts to desat, temp is slightly cold 36.4. just pee. Respiratory therapist does her thing,  he stays pretty calm,  she is learning him better.

Swaddled up. He gets frustrated when we swaddle his hands down,  but it keeps him from yanking off his mask and out his OG tube.

After cares he is turnec down to 23%.
Binky time. Helps him be less frustrated.  He us pretty awake. Just looking around mostly,  struggling to get his hands free every few minutes. He doesn’t want to fall asleep. We hand hug him and take turns giving him his binky.

He stares at his breathing tube,  and the ceiling. It is hard to not just stand next to him and keep him awake,  but the less stimulus he gets the more he will relax and fall asleep,  his rest is important.

We sit and watch,  he gets sleepier.  The nurse turns his oxygen down to 21%, he high sats.  That’s a good way to say goodnight little RT!

Another good day!

We love you, grow and sleep and keep battling on!
