We had a good night.

Mom came back around 0600 to relieve me. I went back to hotel to take a short nap,  then take grandma to the airport.

She had a great visit with lots of cuddles! Plus she will see him soon!

Light traffic.

Back to hospital.

1530 Time for his swallow study. We go down to xray. He gets put on an spo2 monitor for the trip down.  Funny because when we went down to surgery we removed him from his monitor.  Lately he had not been on a monitor and now we’re putting him on one.

Several different things to try. Plain milk with ultra preemie nipple. Milk with A preemie nipple. 26 cal fortified breast milk with Similac Total comfort with a preemie nipple.

Mom gets to feed,  I get to watch the live xray! Awesome to watch! He does well, the milk hesitates slightly around his airway but never makes it past or to his vocal cords, he continues to protect his airway!

The xray tech comments that she would not have guesses he only had a week of practice,  Impressed by him.  She gets chills when she hears he has only practiced for a week.

Back up to Peds.

After looking over the xray some more,  they decide we can let him bottle feed as much as he wants,  then pump feed him the remainder. We don’t have to wait till feeding time,  if he is queuing we can feed him.

2100 feed he takes 60cc by bottle perfectly! He would have taken another 10CC if I put it in the bottle.  I give him b the remainder slowly with a syringe into his Gtube.

1130 he pooped. feed he is queuing again. I give him 20cc by bottle but he coughs 3 times.  I stop and give him the rest by pump.

0030 he’s still awake. Poops again.

Maybe letting him eat when he wants to will make his body keep moving food through his digestive tract and poop more regular!

We can hope!

Time to try and rest while he is less awake (he is sucking on his binky but I dint think he can actually eat more. )

Video xray!
