Long day, long night, hard to write.

Blood transfusion.

X-ray shows worsening in his lungs.

Raised peep from 7 to 8.

Tried NAVA mode from PRVC.

Climbing up on oxygen throughout the day.

Backup mode mostly because he is on pain meds.

2000 big event code alarm sounded. Brady desat. Everyone responded. Low spo2 of 12.

Scary. Tears

Bagged, Oxygen percent up to 100, lots of mucus suctioned.

He continues to have a fight with his et tube every time he realizes it is there when he is conscious. This causes his large events Other than that he is asleep because of his pain meds. Sad

Everything done to help just seems to make it worse

Pain meds help keep him sedated so that he doesn’t yank out his et tube and keeps him comfortable. But it also Makes him not breathe on his own.

After a long discussion with the nurses and doctors they decide going to switch back to PRVC mode and sedate more in hopes of less large events where he fights his tube. Up steroids to try and reduce inflamed lungs.

We have advocated for him the best we can.

Plan is to Give him the night to rest and heal and get out more secretions.

Not sure if there even is a right decision.

At NICU still. It’s midnight. RT is between 50% and 60% oxygen

Yesterday for a while after intubation we were only on 21%.

Is intubation worsening the situation.

Have we really gotten that much worse.

Everything we asked about yesterday at family rounds was done today.

60% oxygen.

Who knows we can only hope.

We love you little man!
