No calls last night so that is good.
Arrive at NICU, on 48% oxygen.
I was scared it was going to be higher.
New nurse today…
She says he has been having relatively stable day.
Sounds like the steroids, blood transfusion, PRVC, and prayers might be helping.
Long day, long night, hard to write.
Blood transfusion.
X-ray shows worsening in his lungs.
Raised peep from 7 to 8.
Tried NAVA mode from PRVC.
Climbing up on oxygen throughout the day.
Backup mode mostly because he is on pain meds. Continue reading “October 21 2016”
Xray after intubation shows already slight improvement.
His oxygen needs slowly creep up with each care and don’t get turned down he sits at 96 spo2.
Cares are pretty standard, two small smears of poop, mostly pee, But not much .but with less fighting because of the fentanyl he is on making him almost asleep through cares. Continue reading “October 20th 2016”

Weight on the board is 2510. Loss of 1 gram. Still 5lb 8.5oz though! Impressive! That is 4 lb more than when you were born!
25% oxygen. Nurse today is unfortunately one we’ve never had.
We’ve regressed back to CPAP of 7…. We see it was an eventful night. At least 6 deep events and several others. 2 more deep events for this nurse prior to CPAP change. Only 1 since…. We also see most of the blankets covering the tubing is gone. Ok. What we worked so hard on yesterday for day and beginning of night shift is gone. When did that happen? Prior to the events?
Weight on the boad 2511.
Nurse today is a primary, we are glad to see her.
23% oxygen CPAP weaned to 6. That’s awesome!
She tells us about a massive poop he had earlier that got messy. I’m kind of jealous that I wasnt there. It is officially his first blow out, had to change his clothes and bedding!
Proud of him for pooping so well lately considering the toll the extra fortification we put in his milk. It’s impressive he has done as well as he has.
He had a pretty good night too! 5 events, almost all self corrected. Mostly not deep either. Good job buddy! Continue reading “October 16 2016”
