Brief overview of past few months
RT is doing good, post op appointment was about two weeks after surgery suture is holding this time so far they used a heavier duty thread, the knot still shows through his skin.
He is progressing with walking he has a walker we got from PT. Highly motivated to walk, especially outside. Sometimes though he will stop to inspect every little thing. Cracks in the side walk, little leaves, tiny twigs. Mulch pieces. Sticks are his favorite. He is getting pretty good with steering it he can walk from one side of the house and navigate into his bedroom. Or go from the car into the physical therapy building using the ramp, then through the door and into the elevator. He likes to say hi (wave) to the receptionist and when we get called back he can navigate and knows which room he needs to go to.
We have been trying to figure out if he is alergic to specific foods. Occasionally he will develope a rash on his face during a meal. But other times with the same exact food the next day will not react.
He had a basic allergy panel done on a black of draw that happened with surgery and it came back showing elevated levels on many foods, even ones he has never seemed to react to.
Mom managed to get him into a allergist down in Largo, he seems like a super knowledgeable friendly doctor.
During the appointment He unexpectedly made time to do a skin test on his back which was excellent. The foods we tested for came back negative which was a relief. Ended up sending out another blood test that shows components of certain foods.
A few weeks back we ended up having to get a new ca seat his other one had the plastic chest clip crack. Got a maxi cosi this time. It’s more difficult to get a good fit in the car using the latch system than the old one but it works fine just with more effort.
Today is our first vacation since arriving in Florida. RT’s first time flying!
Going back to Cali.
See the family and go to my brothers wedding! RT is much different than last time the people back home saw him.
We got him his own seat and brought his car seat, since he knows it means he can’t get up. Much easier than trying to wrangle a toddler the whole time on your lap. Car seat fit just fine!
He did just fine with flying. First flight from Tampa international to Philadelphia he was good but got bored a little more than half way through but fell asleep for a good portion of it which was great!
I got him some nice sound canceling headphones and they seemed to help. Made it easier for him to handle take off, he sometimes freaks out with loud sounds. They are a little bit big on him but work.
In Philadelphia we fed him some hot dogs mom cooked at home and Cheerios while we had dinner (his first food while in a restaurant.) nice non rushed 3hr layover.
Then on to the 2nd flight.
if went fine. Visit in California was great, lots of walking. My brothers wedding was beautiful, RT enjoyed it and seeing all the people.
RT got to see two great grand parents and both sets of grand parents. His cousins, uncles, etc. it was great for him to see more family and interact with more people!
He incredibly did not get sick from traveling and exposure to so many people. His immune system seems sturdy!
This post was brief but it has been too long since I’ve updated it. I Wrote while traveling and found little time while actually in California. Returned to Florida 19th of May. Been incredibly busy since then trying to catch up around the house, PT, OT, allergist, appointments etc.
Pictures coming soon!
Sorry everyone for being so long between updates. RT is nearly walking. Maybe I’ll try and be more frequent again.
