A post I never ended up posting that was in my drafts but not published.   The RT factor

Obviously written a while back while still in the NICU

Throughout RT’s life he has had many things that should not happen happen.

Last week it was his thermometer,  mom went to take his temperature,  he thermometer seemed to be working,  but then never beeped that it was done.  The screen was only partially working when she checked it.

The nurse went and got another brand new in the box thermometer for us,  we tried again,  this one wouldn’t even beep when you hit the button to turn it on.

Third one when you turned it on the screen would flicker in and out… statistically that is some weird odds. Eventually we got one that worked.

RT is now in an open crib, it’s got metal bars instead of wooden slats. A very industrial cribette. Looks kind of like baby jail especially when we put him in a striped orange onsie!  So because he is in an open crib he is supposedly easier to steal even though he is hooked up to a ventilator and a monitor that watches his vitals..  They put an ankle monitor on his leg, this way he can’t walk off without being caught.

At the doorways to exit the nicu there are detectors that sense if he leaves the building,

Well, his ankle monitor kept going off at the front desk alerting them it was being tampered with or he is escaping 3 different times overy 24 hours.

4th one last night we found out the one he was wearing for the past few days wasn’t even activated anyways.

Turns out it isnt “required” if on a ventilator System though.

The RT factor

Little Lantern

I have started to think about the mold and loss of our treasured items as a fresh start for the family. Maybe it represents a cleansing.

Maybe we had too many things holding us down and it just had to happen.

Just one more reminder that stuff is just stuff.

The things that really matter are less tangible. Memories, experiences, emotions, family. Love.

Getting some sleepy snuggles.

Built the crib!

Seems like it’s well made.

RT got to take a short nap in it today. We are still having him sleep in the room with us for now.

Got a nice reclining swivel rocking chair yesterday too.

House is slowly coming together.

Trying not to stress about moldy household goods.

The old wooden dresser I was working on for him will never be complete. I had paint, and new handles and it was nearly completely sanded down. Now it’s moldy.

White box under the window is a cute lamp we got as a gift from one of RTs aunts. It was going to be for RTs sister Savannah. I’m glad it was not in with the HHG!

I told RT it would help protect him, he had some really big smiles. Got some tears. More pictures as the room comes together.

Dresser, changing table, possibly a rug, more toys, and artwork!

March 3rd 2017

RT got his Synagis shot yesterday so that’s awesome. No huge fiasco this time!

14lb 9oz!

We have been working hard on more belly time. His arms are getting stronger.

We closed on our house on the 17th! First house as a family!

On the 24th we got a call telling us our Household goods arrived. But moldy. Looks like just about everything will be a loss. Not what we wanted to deal with now. Fearful of anything having mold bringing it into our home and risking RTs health. Certain things that are irreplaceable hopefully are cleanable!

We got a bed and mattress and a pack and play for RT to sleep in. What we used moving across the country. Getting his stuff first And a nice outdoor table and chair set. Basic kitchen stuff. The rest of the house is empty. Convenient for painting the walls!

Painted master bedroom, guest bedroom, and living room.

Still want to paint dining area and kitchen.

Working on getting more fun toys for RT!

Just replaced all blinds with Levolor cordless blinds. They are safer for baby’s and pets. Less strangulation hazard!
