Another good night and awesome day.

Happy birthday wife!

Went and got a new 4runner for the family to travel across the country in! I am excited about the adventures and memories we will make as a family in it. Even the stuck in a car with a screaming baby ones.  I’m just happy he can scream at us! (He is getting ever so slightly louder)

Tested out RT in his car seat.

To leave the hospital they have to confirm he fits it properly.

They hook him up to the heart and spo2 monitor and throw him into the car seat,  strap him in and let him sit there for 90 minutes. I say throw because the nurse that came in to do it did not let me do it to practice and instruct me how she did it fast and not gentle at all.  She also told me to raise his shoulder straps. I point out you are supposed to have the straps at or below shoulder hight.  She says, put it higher.. ok so maybe not everyone that thinks they know how to adjust a car seat know what they are doing.

Frustrating that she is likely instructing other familes to adjust infant car seats wrong.

After readusting the straps I point out they are above his shoulders, she says its close enough he will grow… if I adjusted his seat off of how big he will be I could just forget having a carseat!

She then acted like I was just an idiot father that was too lazy to want to rethread the seat harness.(I even did it once today before she was here)

If you have it above the shoulder in the event of a forward impact the baby will slide upwards until the shoulders come above where the strap pass though the car seat then come tight extremely quick,  transferring all that momentum directly into the babys shoulders,  and neck. Too low (they were not too low) and the straps might slip off shoulders.

Proper seat adjustment is extremely crucial.

RT likes his car seat,  slept most of the time! I’ll adjust it again before we leave.

I take a nap before dinner.

Dinner.

Back up to spend the night with RT.

Bottle And pump fed, 9pm, midnight and 3. Next one is at 0600, in 2 hours.

Good night RT!
