Surgeon was ready at 1300, nurse was not ready to send us off until 1330. Not sure why. Transport is ready to move us.
We disconnected his spo2 monitor.
I asked if we are taking a mobile one.
Nope.
Just going down on oxygen support.
The transport person brings in a wheel chair.
RT is too small for a wheel chair.
Turns out I will hold him, and mom will carry oxygen tank.
The nurse hands me an AMbi bag to do rescue breathing if necessary….
I haven’t been trained with one nor would I know he needed it because we have no spo2 monitor, his color is fine though.
Not concerned just seems really disorganized, and like they just wanted to not send a nurse so removed spo2 monitor.
No nurse is coming because no spo2 monitor, not required to send one without it.
We have required an spo2 monitor till its time to go to surgery then just nah your good.
Oh and here you go, have a bag of medications.
So off we go, I get pushed in a wheel chair with RT in my arms, mom carries the oxygen tank behind us. An ambi bag and RT on my lap, medications shoved under my leg so they don’t fall on the ground.
We arrive down at surgery a short time later.
Surgeon says hi, checks if w have more questions. Anesthesiologist, stops by, gets some more signatures. Explains what she will be doing. Mom hands her the meds. She is like what’s this?
They just gave you a bag of meds?
I say they gave me an ambi bag too.
We all laugh.
Did they train you?
How do you know when to use it?
We all laugh again.
It’s time to hand over RT.
1350 We give him a kiss and off he goes.
