Another great day!
Nurse comments how nice and round Ryan’s head is. It should be flat for the life he has had. Preemie toaster head (it gets flat on both or one side when you don’t rotate a baby enough. ) I tell her his NICU nurses worked really hard trying to avoid that. Most things taken for granted in a baby that Ryan also shows is actually due to hard work and diligence!
Another story similar to RTs.
Worth a read if you don’t mind crying.
Born at the same gestational age, large set back at one month of life that Dr. questioned again if we wanted to keep him on support.
Almost as if you condensed my blog to one page. Many of the same thoughts shared between us.
Weaned to .5 LPM!
Bumped to 50% oxygen for stability. Although probably not necessary, in reality he is inhaling less than 50% as it combines with air he breathes around the cannula. Wen we go home he will likely be on low flow oxygen, at 100%. Time will tell. Follow RTs lead.
Switched food fortification around only breast milk and similac total comfort. Should be easier on his intestines and help with constipation. Only 26 cal now instead of 30. Also less fluid restricted, 20cc per hour.
Going to remove his ND tomorrow and put an NG down. Try feeding into his stomach again. Hopefully no aspirated reflux episodes. We can pray.
If he tolerates that for several days, potentially try training oral feeding slowly! Scary but exciting!
You can do it RT!
Everyone loves you!
