Enter NICU. 30% oxygen.

Nurse that knows him well!

Weight on the board 3353. A gain of 81 grams.

7lb 6oz!

Putting on weight quick.

They had an xray this morning that looks quite good for RT!

Nurse last gave him a suppository, got a poop. Gave him a bath too.  They had a good night.

Morning rounds the doctor decides to wean his rate from 20 to 18!

Says depending on how he does today she might decide to wean him again, and maybe again in the morning.

She feels like we can go slightly faster because his xray looks so good, not sure how I feel about going that quick, now that I have accepted we will go slow.

It depends on if we are planning to extubate in 10 days or almost a month.

No one really knows.

Cares,  good temp, just pee. We move him to the momaroo so he can sit in a different position. He likes it!  We don’t turn it on, good enough just being a different position for him. CPT and suctioning as per the usual. Weaned to 28% oxygen!

Lunch.

Back up.

Cares, just pee. He has been very gassy. CPT and suctioning. Probably won’t.

I have been writing shorter descriptions of cares because I’m pretty sure everyone gets what it is by now.

Skin to skin time for mom!

Goes well!

Weaned to 26% oxygen for most of it,  desats briefly when he farts, gassy boy. He has been having trouble pooping on his own since intubation. And more gassy. They also added liquid protein around  the same time, and switched to the ND tube rather than the og. Wonder if it’s because of because of the liquid protein they added into his milk ontop of everything else. The pain meds can cause constipation too.

ND can cause the bowels to get lazier from the constant feeds.

I go take care of some chores and get a work out in.

1630 end of Skin to skin Cares. Just pee. Doesn’t like CPT gets angry this time. Mom swaddles him up and they try CPT again, he likes it this time. Then mom gives him book time and he loves it looking back and forth between the pages.

Dinner.

Shift change. Same nurse tonight as the last few,  she knows him well.

I give him his binky because he is awake. He likes it,

Cares.  Just pee. Respiratory therapist tonight is the one that turns him up higher than he other ones.  Bumped from 29% oxen to 52%…. Atleast its not as high as that one night she turned you up to 70% and left you there.

He doesn’t like CPT untill he is swaddled.

She goes too deep on suctioning rather than double red she goes to double yellow or black. Whoops.

After cares she leaves him on 52% oxygen and goes off to chart and then help with another baby.

Annoying.

The nurse kindly weans him back down to where he was at 29% oxygen.

Glad we have a nurse that knows him tonight.

I leave a note on the ventilator reminding to please not suction too deep because it causes issues.

Love you RT.

I know the nurse tonight will take good care of you.
