On the way into the NICU ran into a man that asked if we were still in the NICU, they were in room one before we moved to room 4.he asks if he and his family can pray for us. Definately we can use all the help we can get!
Got an email from my work family! So very grateful for them!
Edited slightly for names.
S,
Last week the Blood Bank of Alaska was in Sitka for their annual blood drive. The Chief’s wanted you to know we were thinking about you and the uphill road you’ve been on for the last several months with your son RT. We as a group decided to donate blood for the worthy cause in your son’s honor. Though we only had one casualty ( so and so, fainted) several members came out to rally around your family .
The folks you may not recognize are my wife , my son, his wife BM3 S and FSC S sporting a beard while on leave :-). That good looking fella with thermals on who appears to be ready to faint also for fear of needles was your humble Senior Chief.
Even the somebody wanted in on the fun (more like an excuse to eat cookies and chips). If you zoom in, you may see crumbs on his chest. I can’t tell, Chief M is nervous or excited. In all seriousness, we hope you’re doing well, we think about you often and eagerly await your family’s return!
Getting this email and these pics was absolutely heart warming. (Got a little emotional) a couple laughs too!
I can not imagine working with or for a more incredible group of people!
Everyone loves you RT!
Today is another stable day!
Ran into a parent of a child that was just in room 4 with us. They have been discharged. Just back and getting results of a cat scan, they are now learning about being patents outside of the NICU.
Mom got to do skin to skin for the first time in about a week!
Desat during transfer, had to get suctioned, then a nice skin to skin!
During skin to skin I went and got a drink of water and ran into a parent of a baby that was in room one near the beginning.
They have been discharged and doing pretty good. While we are talking a nurse walks in and tells her she is going to make us jealous. Not jealous of them. Just happy Z and his family are home!
During 2000 cares while repositioning he coughs or gags, hard to tell with an ET tube down his throat, and has a large event requiring bagging and suctioning to Eventally come back up. He changes colors, and doesn’t move during stim.
Low of 20 Spo2 then it stopped reading, heart rate to 65 bpm.
Just a mucus plug in his ET tube.
One more scary event giving us grey hair.
Well his events are caused because he can’t get out his secretions from his lungs without someone suctioning it out. Too much suctioning makes more secretions. ET tube makes secretions. So hopefully he starts making slightly less soonish? Almost stuck in an infinate loop here…
Mostly a stable day! Atleast we know the reason he has the events.
40-50% oxygen all day.
Say our goodnights.
So much love RT.
