He is 90 days old today!  Absolutely amazing!

Weight on the board,  2514.

25% oxygen.

Nurse today is a primary!

Only a few events last night! He had a pretty good night!

Nurse tells us were going to start EPO today its 3 injections per week Monday Wednesday Friday.

The secretary comes and brings us a gift!  A hand knitted blanket,  mittens and a hat!  Everyone really does love him!  He is a VIP here! We are so grateful for all the staff here!

Cares, temp 36.9,  just pee.

Doctor comes by and talks about EPO.

RT is liking his binky,  I keep giving him his binky,  he gets upset when it falls out of his mouth,  he can’t quite keep it in. Mom heads to lunch and gets me a coffee. I keep him happy with his binky tI’ll he stops asking for it when it falls out.

Lunch.

Back to NICU. USCG Chaplain stops by,  good talk. Mom offers to have him come in for 140p cares,  he happily accepts!

We head in, scrub.

Cares,  temp 36.7. Just pee. Hernia is smaller! He gets to see his face briefly during his brake. Occupational therapist stops by and does some neck stretches with RT.

After cares we say our goodbyes to Chaplain and mom heads in. It was good to see him,  glad he got to see RT in his crib now!

Time for RT’s shot of EPO, I help hold him still for the nurse,  she does it into his right thight. RT does not like this at all! He is almost the most angry I have ever seen him.  Loudest cry yet! Then he desats. He made some secretions and doesn’t want to breathe after his cry. Needs a little help getting back up.

Looks like it made him angry enough to poop too.

Another diaper change, he calms down quick.  Falls asleep almost immediately once he is swaddled.

No skin to skin today. Trying to still not confuse things.

1700 cares, we try and do a sneaker care, no temp because he is sleepy still, we leave his upper half swaddled,  change the diaper, he stays fairly calm and falls asleep pretty quick after.

Dinner. Back to NICU.

RT had a few events while we were gone. But only need help for one of them.

Shift change, primary again!

So glad we are having primaries!

Another large event during passdown.  He recovers by himself, no help needed.  He is getting better at getting out of deeper events by himself too so that’s good!

2000 cares early,  temp is 37. Diaper just pee. Hernia is bigger though.

Binky time.

He stays pretty awake, but stops queuing for the binky,  he just stares at the tube infront of his face.

We decide to head out even though it’s difficult to leave.  We don’t want to keep him awake by stimulating him because rest is so important for him.

We say our goodnights.  Have to be back early tomorrow morning too. Another eye exam early in the morning.

Then it’s Thursday so weekly rounds.

Also have an appointment with the doctor to try and discuss RT’s future needs in more depth even though it’s too early to know everything. It’s good to discuss every once in a while.

If he keeps having a good night maybe talk about weaning the CPAP level to 6 tomorrow.

Sleep tight sleepy head.
