Nurse today is one we had a while ago. She has a nurse in training following her today.
The eye doctor came by right before we got in. They are able to grab him before he leaves.
RT is on 50% oxygen. Disappointing. But better than it could be.
He has some news. He looked in RT’s eyes without a speculum or all his equipment but it looks like his eyes are holding even. We will know more later on though.
His ROP is not worsening. And the plus disease looks potentially slightly better.
We won’t see regression of the ROP for 2 to 3 weeks.
We talk about it being plus and rush disease.I’ll do a seperate post on that later when I have time. Eye doctor will be back on Thursday for a more through exam.
Trying to make the blog shorter and more brief tonight because I need sleep. Long day. As always not everything that happens is typed. Even more missing today, hopefully it is readable.
More Brady events (heart rate dropping too low quickly) which are abnormal for him, this is new since his eye surgery. Not sure at all what is causing it. Many things can. Frustrating, stressful. Hopefully he is just recovering from eye surgery and extubation, maybe intubation bruised him in his throat. No one knows. Drs don’t seem toom concerned yet
Most of the day he is between 40 and 50% oxygen down to 38 for an hour.
Stable temp all day.
1400 I change his diaper good amount of pee. As I’m finishing up and put vasaline on his bottom he begins to poop. Good boy. I give him some time. Medium large poop.
Cares take nearly an hour with everything. Atleast It gives grandma more time to give him hand hugs
Started albuterol in hopes of stopping his heart dropping they think it might be bronchial spasms I guess?
By the time cares are complete his diaper is wet again so I change it a 3rd time.
Total weight 65 grams
All the albuterol does is make his heart race to 220 bpm and not want to come down, we don’t see any difference in the number of events that he has.
My mom gets to hang out with us today, he is way bigger than when she saw him last he was only 8 days old.
I catch his OG tube being too shallow right before the nurse in training is about to put medicine down it. It could have caused him to aspirate medicine and flood his lungs. Instead it just makes his heart dip. Glad I’m here.
1700 cares, as I’m checking his hernia he sees his chance with the diaper open and takes the opportunity to pee, almost gets grandma.
Eventally we have to go eat dinner. 38% oxygen
After dinner with grandma we head up. Nurse tells me 15 minutes after I leave for dinner he desats down to 30 spo2 had to neopuff to get him up. Event For no apparent reason.
He is on 40% oxygen now.
New nurse to RT tonight. She seems nice.
2000 cares. Diaper change. Good amount of Pee, as I’m about to velcro the clean one… He poops. RT really prefers clean diapers.
Maybe he is really smart and knows if he does it during cares he won’t have to sit in it till the next care?!
His hernia is smaller today and softer.
Total weight between diapers 74 grams.
44% oxygen.
He is stable and settled for now. Gave him some binky time while he is getting fed he loves it!
I feel more stressed today than I have in a while, a big portion is about his Brady events, higher oxygen needs and his high heart rate from the albuterol. Dropping from over 200 bpm to below 100 in a few seconds is scary. His norm is 149-151 bpm while relaxed.
You amaze us every day.
Love from all around the world.
