1230 Went and grabbed a friend from the airport that had a layover in Seattle.
Got lunch. Brought back friend to hospital, had a good talk in lobby. Wife pumped bedside. While she was up there RT braided (Bradycardia means a slower than normal heart rhythm.) and desat. Its a new thing for him to bradie. We don’t need a new issue.
Then it was time for our friend to meet RT! He is blown away by how small he is and intrigued by all the support that makes it possible for RT to survive.
Hung out talked, went to dinner at 8oz a burger place down the street.
Came back to hospital, wife pumped at hotel and washed her supplies while we visited with RT again. Amplitude up to 33, from 30. Nurse tells us he had a 64 gram diaper! Imprssive. I think a new record for RT! While we were there RT decided to Bradie down to 98 bpm, and desat to around 70sp02, the doctor, two respiraroty therapists and another nurse were called for this one. Not bad enough to pull code tab. Large amount suctioned out of tube he came back up quickish to an acceptable sp02. They think his vent tube may be clogging with mucus and causing this.
I hope he doesn’t keep doing this regularily.
Time for a diaper change, a little poo! All by himself!
RT opens his eyes and my friend gets to see! One of the nurses that has had RT 3 nights a week for the last 4 weeks only got to see his eyes for the first time last night. So… It’s kind of a big deal!
I ask why he is having his heart rate fluctuations, Doctor says it could be due to/part of reflux.
They wean him after cares and recovering from his event. They take him down to 40% he continues to do good. The respiratory tech turns him down another 5% to 35%. RT hangs out there for a bit.
I tell the respiratory therapist that’s really quick for weaning RT, usually he likes it 1 to 2% at a time.
RT desats a minute later. One of the other nurses comes and adjusts him up “just a little” to 50% its a sensitive knob. RT’s Nurse is helping a different baby.
RT is happy at 50%, clean diaper, suctioned mouth. Repositioned.
They will work on weaning him down slower for a bit.
Wife is downstairs waiting so we head down, we tell her the story of the previous little times events.
We take our friend back to a hotel across the street from airport he Flys out early tomorrow, we say our farewells. Hopefully the 3 of is will see him back in Alaska.
Glad he got to meet my boy! Saw his eyes open too!
We head back to hospital. RT was weaned down to 44%, but back up at 50 now after cares. Wife pumps. We hang out.
We give him some hand hugs and tell him how much everyone loves him. It’s always difficult to say our goodnights. We will see him tomorrow.
Please have a stable night little munchkin.
